D17 – Glamping observed

Monday, December 15th, 2025. Cowboy Crossong Campsite. Off mile 207.2 of the Florida Trail. Tented next to mailbox and picnic table. Moderate winds, maybe 15mph. about 60°. Wake naturally at about 530 am. 27.567894,-81.129998

The winds pick up at midnight, and the temperature begins to fall. I get out of my tent to secure against rain, but I can see there are no clouds, and the rain never comes.

The weather is perfect for sleep, but I toss and turn. I really needed (wanting) to get up early to make town food, but I don’t get up until 530 am. So, that’s a lot of sleep, I think. I am not pack on and walking out from camp until 615 am. That’s pretty late!!

First photo of the day.

I come through Kissimmee Prairie State Park before nine o’clock. The park has a glamping area, which I have never heard of. It also has a low light campground designed for people who want to stargaze, which is pretty cool.

I take myself to the bathrooms, which has showers. They are definitely not glamping quality, lol. I do my best.

Perhaps overly optimistically, I put on a fresh pair of socks this morning. There are several wet foot sections directly trail north of the state park. It’s not so bad.

Trail is below water.
Notes in FarOut say that multiple massive gators live here. It’s coldish, and all I’m able to see are bubbles.
A long section of trail today was clodgrass.
Roadwalk!

Today is Monday, and that’s a pretty good day if you’re into the current events and news, which I am. I’ll walk my ass off today listening to the various most recent terrible facts about our world.

Further roadwalk

I make a pretty serious effort to get to the resort before the general store closes. I did a pretty good job of it. I was afraid that there would be no restaurants open but the pizza place was still offering pies.

Me eating pizzas.

I buy an outrageous amount of food at the general store and eat my all meat pizza while I repackage things. The resort is really fancy, and it makes me a little sad. I’ve never, and probably will never, have a life that would take me to a place like this. If you’re a lonely type, you don’t go glamping.

Departing resort.

I make it out of the resort right at sundown. I do a mile or two up the road and find a nice flat place close to the pines to camp.

Milage:

Cowboy Crossing was at 207.2, and I’m on 237.7, so that’s 30.5, which sounds about right. Another amazingly great day, i’m so thankful. Also I need sleep.
