I do not believe there will ever be logical and enforceable rules that will meaningfully prevent AI from making damaging inroads into human creativity, artistic productivity, or Etsy.
I proposed that Etsy prevent itself from being one more organization in our society whose future is framed by the things it wishes to fight against.
I propose that Etsy should take up the fight against the flood of AI garbage in our universe by reasserting itself as the representative of creative humans on this planet.
I propose that Etsy was never intended to be against anything. The only way forward is promotion of the positive. Etsy was designed to be a doorway for investment in human creativity.
Over the last decade, Etsy has done the things to find capital market sales volumes
Over the next decade, Etsy will learn to speak of the rare sheep in its flock or it will die.
Etsy needs to regain itself as an institution capable of finding the best of humanity.
Etsy needs to understand that its ability or inability to do this is a prognostication for the future of our world.
Etsy has the opportunity to change the entire discussion, to clear the dreadful mindset of creative individuals in all formats of media, by reclaiming its original mantle: all eyes on unique, progressive, investment worthy individuals.
I beg Etsy: be a magnifying glass.
Be the opportunity you were meant to be.
Use AI. Use it to become the world’s leader in identifying unique human individuals.
Use AI. Use it to impassion the world’s people on craft.
Filtering out AI garbage is not the problem.
Reasserting the skill of highlighting humanity is.
