Saturday, August 29th, 2026. Irmo, South Carolina.
Day one has arrived (for the 50th time, probably). I am thankful. I want change towards goals.
Agreements
The objectives of this business are assertive enough that I wouldn’t blame anyone for calling them mildly delusional.
And, I’m a hippie-wook; a small measure of our society not known for its productivity. I’m not the kind of guy you want owing you money, is what I’m saying.
To actually be able to share the “Agreements” to where you, the reader, found it interesting and me, the participant, found it useful, this is going to take time. Weeks and months.
The practice of looking through these things each morning is what I am after at this early point.
In the shortest form of logic possible:
- There is a goal
- I have agreed to work for this goal
- There is a plan
- My routeen is plan management
- Check reality vs. plan each morning
And so… yeah. This is Day 1.
The ideas that this plan is about are adventurous and challenging. I know to start simple. Help myself to get started successfully.
The big concerns at this time are pretty simple:
- No tobacco/nicotine
- Actual food
- Actual cardio
I was up way too late last night, but I get up by alarm at 7am. It’s 11:35 now and I’m in the studio doing the things. I did see me try and move into my responsibilities. This is good for now.
I got up. Made coffee. Went for a walk (probably like 4.5 miles). Bath and shave. Clean my house (van). Go to work. No cigarettes.
Seems basic and easy, right? Feels good, anyway.
Studio Assessment
After a second pot of coffee and some sweeping, the studio’s looking good.

eBay Charity Auctions
Things are not going exceptionally well. Lol. Prices are really low.
One of the things I value about this exercise is how it brings honesty to the table. There is potential in life, but getting there is difficult. My desire to sell work for charity makes an excellent example, and that’s one reason why I’m doing it.

I pack and ship yesterday’s auction. $20.50, that’s $6.83 per marble or 27% of retail. Yikes. This is going to keep happening until I learn to build more of an audience. And good luck to me with that.
Etsy
I have a listing quota to meet, but I have no new product to post.
I would love to pack and ship something for Etsy, but I haven’t sold anything in 3 days.
So… this makes the job easier.
Lampworking
I do not want to spend money on this glass shop for two very good reasons. My ability to earn money has never been weaker in my adult life, and this glass shop does not belong to me.
But today, I went ahead and did the thing. I spent money that is very difficult to come by on a glass shop that isn’t mine… because I want me to be successful.

I eat all my meals and prepare all my food in the glass shop, and since I’ve been here, I’ve had a difficult time dealing with food waste. I seem to create a lot of house flies. Small garbage cans that are airtight are difficult to find and very expensive. The cheapest thing at Walmart was $60!
I think the metal garbage can was $28. The crazy shocker was the light bulbs, $35! For 2 florescent bulbs! The 18 bricks were like $0.82 each.

At some point, I figured out the dog was missing. Rose had snuck out! I did some searching and found her outside the back gate. I was just telling Rose that she was a punk but that I wouldn’t rat her out to her Dad… when he called! “Do you have eyes on my dog?” The neighbor called Derrick, said your dog is in the street. It was not a great situation for me, but it seemed to blow over easy enough.
I am finally about to begin lampworking at 5:15pm. Lol, sigh. That’s not good.
Well, it’s 11:20 pm now. I worked on marbles. It was a pretty good time, I guess. It definitely would have been better to make an earlier start. There is no way I make quota.
Conclusion
I’m thrilled that today wasn’t ruled by anxiety. Lol. Cigarettes have been a difficult crutch for me to get away from.
I’m fat. My business sucks.
I have great plans but no resources, and at the moment, I’m not qualified anyway.
Frustration of many types and ages.
Given what I know about me, probably some collapse of faith is ahead.
But, lol, I did make it through day 1.
