Monday, September 7th 2026. Studio Uncle Fish, Irmo, South Carolina.

I am a dirty hippie.

I’m a dirty hippie, and I’d like to be good at it.

I’m a post middle-aged man smelling like a dog and living like a king, and I’d like to be good at it.

The skillset is rank. You got the whole coffee, marijuana, and cigarettes thing; the basic ingredients from which all varieties of saucey artists and nearly senseless self-revolutionaries are cooked.

And then you have the vanlife. The keeping of toothbrushes in a socks. The shitting in garbage cans and “bathing” in bowls.

How to fight dogs and various Karens. How to befriend the meth inclined and use postal carriers for opposition research. Which sleave to wipe your nose on and how to uncode the language of street clothes. How to hide from the man and avoid the poison of government candy. How to grow as a degenerate without trying to change degeneracy. Why slim untattooed ratchet-trap yoga brunettes with glasses who grow weed are the most beautiful women in the universe and how free pot and free love never come together. What to order at Starbucks and where on their property to dispose of your own feces.

It’s complicated. Life is a learning curve.

Welcome to Monday. Labor Day, indeed.

Studio Assessment

In a progressive future, there will be a link to a tour of the glass shop.

I have lived in this van for eleven years. Setting aside gratitude for attributes humanistic, this vehicle is the most important thing in my life. My shelter from reality, as it shown itself to be.
I’m a natural born homeless person. That’s just the facts of it, I was made for the clean-shirt street life. Live well, humbly. That’s the groove of traveling wook craftsman. Be less and smoke more, basically. Thankful. Blessed.

I have the mental stability of a palletized roller coaster. Yesterday’s dilemmas with eBay took the life out of me, and I spent the whole of the morning just trying to gather myself. Starbucks and sativa while cleaning, pretty much.

Clean and organized ish. My workspace ready to go for another day.

I did not work yesterday, and so there’s no kiln split. I close quota for the week on Sunday mornings (which didn’t get done because of eBay initiated existentialism), and it’s not great.

Expectations have dropped significantly in the last decade and a half. Predictions of dollars to market have shrunk so much that they are both now calculated in retail dollars and less than half of previous numerical totals. Like, my quota is half what it was 15 years ago, and I now find that number in retail dollars. Which is some crazy shit. Also, my goals are not institutional. They are personal, and so the intentions of the calculus have shifted poles. It’s hard out there for a hippie right now, and the ability to change anything besides myself is more limited than ever. Work hard. Stay focused, chill, and concentrate on the goal: sell beads, go backpacking.

On any given Monday, the same facts, buddy. It’s gonna be fine.  I already own a jug to piss in.

eBay Charity Auctions

After cleaning the studio, the first order of business is national service. Read about my 100% donation eBay charity auctions program, benefiting food programs around the United States, by clicking here. Link to live auctions by clicking here.

I am able to pack and ship one even though I am completely locked out of the eBay system. I am able to use the notification email to ship out the last auction permitted to this idea by eBay.

I am unable to message buyers who had won auctions and have yet to pay. I have no idea what happens to their purchase. Presumably, it will be automatically canceled.

I can’t think of any productive way to help myself further on this issue and so I figure it’s best to let it go for today.

Please, eBay. Let me cook.

Etsy

Shop the Zanfirico Harold Etsy store by clicking here. You buy, I backpack.

Man, I can not eat glass money that I don’t pull from the kiln and post. Productivity inhibits potential performance always. Consistency is the key, and I don’t see to remember where I left them.

I choose to not photograph and list what I have, pushing the task to tomorrow when I might have more stuffs.

I am able to pack ship one. An order for the marble beads I’m making, this is a good sign. Etsy has the sale booked to Saturday, so this purchase won’t help this week’s quota.

Lampworking

In a progressive future, there will be a link to photograph history or plans or some shit.

Work on progressing trys of Cooney Cane are underway. I spend the early afternoon making prep. Good times. I have been frustrated with the low visual appeal to some recent work. This material will help my disposition.

I do a few coil micro ball bead experiments. They are difficult.

I went to lunch. Singapore noodles, thank you.

Conclusion

11:30 pm and I am cooked. Spend the evening making “quarter cores.” Lampworking skills (basic material management) the last few days have been not good. Feel more comfortable today. See myself reaching for the right things at the right time. Good sign.

Pretty good day, but no finished stuffs in the kiln, which is not how the game of beadmaking survival works.

So perhaps another day of no listing to Etsy tomorrow. Good times.

Sell beads. Go backpacking.

Production and sale of Zanfirico beads to support long-term, long-distance backpacking.
